I have tried a number of times to upgrade from 1.6.9 to 1.8 and every time I get a 500 error after supplying the ACP Pin.  I tried leaving the pin blank and had the same result.

My forum is small - far less than 1 GB.

When I try to go into the admin console - I get the following error:

MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.

SQL Error:1054 - Unknown column '2fasecret' in 'field list'QueryELECT 2fasecret FROM mybb_adminoptions WHERE uid='2'

Any ideas?

did you run the upgrade script after uploading the 1.8 files package...

ex: http://www.your-domain.com/install/upgrade.php

Got this fixed. The permissions were not correct on the config file the process was trying to update. Once I changed those - everything worked.
