It would be nice to add an image option to Custom Profile Fields.

In depth, it would be nice to have an option that allows the administrator/owner add an image URL in each custom field he creates. As for the code, it can be something like [fidX], for example [fidimgX], so the coder could select between the Text or the Image version of the custom field.

Just sayin. Cool
What do you envisage this feature being used for? What value does it add to you as a forum administrator?
Well, you could easily add a custom profile field as an image in the postbit instead of just text.

To the forum administrator, this adds one more feature of customization/personalization. One of the main reasons that I chose myBB as my main forum platform is that it's easily modded, customized and personalized.

I think what Will P is asking for is a "sales pitch" that would improve MyBB overall. As much as I like the idea, your pitch doesn't sound convincing. Personally, I have a few ideas on how adding an option to add a picture to a custom profile field could be used, but I also only would be speaking for myself which would likely be better left with a plugin or core modification. Tell us your vision of how useful a custom profile field containing an image would be to the forum and all forum administrators that would choose to use MyBB, be as detailed as possible and provide example uses that most administrators can relate to.

Exactly. Thanks Vashnik!
Well, it's not something that big as you describe it to be.

It was just something I messed up a lot while I was trying to do it, as a new user on myBB, so I thought that a simple option of a custom profile field image would be a nice little handy feature. It's just a small detail/addition.

That's all. XD
I would also appreciate having the option of making a custom profile field an image, though I think asking for a major sales pitch for something this minor is a bit overkill. I run an RP forum, so my uses include allowing users to add additional images of their characters to their profiles. It isn't a huge hassle to add the <img> tag myself, but it would be that much more convenient if it was a built in option.

As for other uses, I do know that the ability to add a banner image to profiles (similar to Facebook and Twitter's cover photos) is a popular request on these forums. Creating an image option for a custom profile field would help eliminate the need for those plugins.
I guess it comes down to whether or not this is better suited as a plugin or not. My gut says that whilst this is minor, it's something that benefits only a few forums in a few cases, which is pretty much the definition of something that should be a plugin.

Plugin it is then.
I think you're underestimating just how many forums there are that would utilize something like this if it was available, but it is what it is. I've been able to make it work for the past couple of years and I've no doubt I can make it work for my needs in the future too.
