My friend tried to update the mybb forum to the latest version but after doing that when we click on  any forum it gives a 404 . 

Since i have taken a Full backup(Home Directory  and MySQL Database ) via cPanel before he did anything , i want to know how to restore it. but how ?

So i deleted everything and tried to restore it , but when i click on any thread a full white page comes , What to do now ?

I am currently running MyBB 1.8.4

I also want to update MyBB to 1.8.5 , and also want to restore the boards and threads and replies on those threads .Is this possible ? If yes ,How can i do this ?

root folder of your forum files server (eg. public_html) consists of htaccess.txt file - rename it as .htaccess
