Went to upgrade to 1.85 and got this message after installation:

"MyBB SQL Error
MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.
SQL Error:1045 - Access denied for user 'apirates_mybb79'@'backend3.freehosting.com' (using password: YES)
Query:[READ] Unable to connect to MySQL server"

check database details used in ~/inc/config.php file - are they correct ?

I've had to send a support ticket to my hosting service. Apparently my database is locked. I'll get back to you when I hear from them.

So they said they fixed it, but I'm still getting this error:

you can change the database password at web host panel and use it back in ~/inc/config.php file
