I recently switched from Mavenhosting to Versio and the layout is a little different.

On my old site and old host I just uploaded to the public_html.
The new site has a domains folder:

Am I uploading to the correct area? I can't get the /install to work.
I've tried:

I asked if I could reset everything, I am getting a critical file error. I can't delete or change the /inc/language files.
They suggested to delete the domain and remake it which I did but the old /inc/language files are still there. 

This is the error message I see in filezilla:

So, I've remade the domain (disengage.nl) and will upload to there. I renamed the first attempt to disengagetest.nl. 

Sorry, I realise I've gone a little off my original topic here. I'm still fiddling at the moment and trying new things.
I think my original problem is solved - I just upload to:

I'll check back later if I still can't run the /install on this new attempt.

disengage.nl - is it correct domain ?
looks like domain name is yet to propagate or there is a regional based restriction to view it.

ah, that could be it. I deleted the original domain disengage.nl with-in direct admin, domain management page. The domain was registered with Versio 3 days ago. If I delete the domain and re-make it, would it have to propagate again?

I just checked on https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/disengage.nl and I think you have found the problem

^ no need to delete the folders. basically the domain should be visible on web.
has the web host provided any temporary url to develop the website ?

no. I have info for direct admin, FTP and nameservers but no temp URL. I'll contact them and see if they can provide one.

You can always access a website by its IP. Nameservers just make it so a more readable url can be connected to an IP Address. In your hosting account you may see something that says Access Site by IP.
