I have a site design that I am trying to fit MyBB into, but am having trouble figuring out the template system. Is it not based on a header/footer file system? Could someone please explain how I can edit it (besides in the admin cp)?

There's no way of editing it besides in the Admin CP (unless you want to dig through phpMyAdmin, which is an approach not recommended).

The two templates "header" and "footer" should be enough to fit MyBB into your existing layout.
