Have a look folks....from a website that does meta tag scans:

The description tag is not really suitable for a forum since it is recommended that they be different for every page. The search crawlers will simply pull the posts' contents and thread titles.
The keywords tag has little meaning or has no impact at all in major search engines.
The robots tag can be used as an alternative to robots.txt, and the latter one is much simpler to set up. You can find recommended rules for MyBB here: http://community.mybb.com/thread-111191.html
