So I'm having an issue (this has been an ongoing issue) where my forum's read/unread system isn't working properly.
  • If I view the thread with an unread post by directly clicking on it next to the section it belongs to in the main forums page, the section still marks that something is unread.
After I create a thread or post a reply to a thread, I would see that the section the thread belongs to is marked.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

bump.
I experience the same or similar problems often here, so I guess it's a bug (moving it to bug reports).
There's a setting "Attempt to mark parent forums as read" - probably related to that setting?

I don't think so, it seems to be buggy with and without that option turned on. And there's even a fix for it: https://github.com/lukasamd/MyBB-Lightbulb-Fix/ which seemed to make the functionality more reliable when I tested it, but not sure if fully properly (rather not, because it looks that it doesn't work for guests and with the ACP setting, but we can at least check the method). Diff with some redundant changes: https://www.diffchecker.com/coad4zam
Pushing this then. Though I never experienced it.
