Full Version: Make New Thread And Add Old Posts

Hi,

I am a Moderator of a forum, I do not have AdminCP access but can ask an admin for help if needed.

I have a Support section with some old posts and threads that I would like to 'group' together as they are of the same topic.

I have created a new thread with Post #1 explaining the thread and it's contents, called 'Errors Related Too **'.

When merging old threads or moving old posts to the new 'Errors Related To ***' thread Post #1 (my explanation post) is moved to the bottom of the thread and is replaced by the post with the earliest time and date, making the new thread pointless.

If there is a way to do this but keep my explanation post as Post #1 can you please explain how.

Thank you.
I use this plugin which may do what you want to achieve: http://mods.mybb.com/view/move-posts

Change compatibility "16*" to "16*, 18*"

Thanks, though I already have the option to actually move posts. I more need an option to 're-order' posts position in a thread, i suppose?

Or does this plugin do something similar?
One method I can think of is:
  1. Find an old thread that you started yourself;
  2. Copy it to the forum where you want it;
  3. Delete all posts except the startpost;
  4. Update the startpost to the text you want;
  5. Move the other posts you want to the thread;
There's a Move Posts tool in Inline Post Moderation in 1.8.x by default... A plugin is not needed and may only cause problems.

As for reordering posts, you can find them by pid and change their dateline column in the database. But that's not really recommended, just like the way you're trying to solve your problem.
