Martec - maybe we can use name caching (mentionme plugin uses the cache for better performance). Cache is gerated by a task file, used (mentioned) usernames are saved into the cache with uid, avatar, usergroup.

this may reduce the issue of server resource use, but unfortunately does not solve the question of fluidity in typing especially in entry-level smartphone.
the common version stops making the request when it finds the first space.
But the enhanced version makes the request for each letter typed even after finding the space. Unfortunately, this request removes fluidity in typing.
This is the reason for two versions.
It is up to the owner to decide for practicality or performance.
@martec - we (me and @Laird) have another improvements for automention plugin - thread participants, CSS fixes and fixes in library to get rid of nasty bug with positioning of popup window.

How Update
- Unistall older version
- Upload new version
- Install plugin
- Go to plugin settings, and enable the plugin

new version has settings in ACP.
Check settings of plugin if you enabled the plugin in settings.
Default setting is disabled.

if you are using older version that doesn't has unistall, yes deativate.

So, in the case of new versions. Every time the plugin is updated, a user have to uninstall it and then again install it?!
