I guess some things are second chances to do things right.  Attached is a setup I am trying to do.  Its a WP site but the folder structure got a little jacked.

Let me explain what I am trying to accomplish.  I have 2 domain names.  myrootdomain, which my first WP was installed on the root.  Then, I have my new domain installed in a sub-folder.  Lets call that newdomain.com

You can see here that the install wants to use the folder structure there which is what I don't want.  I want users to click forum.newdomain.com and have it work.  I do own and have that domain working.  In other words, newdomain.com and all its pages are working just fine without any hint of the folder structure.  How do I accomplish this without breaking it? Attached is my install screenshot.
forum.newdomain.com sub-domain should point to newdomain.com/forum
for the installation forum URL can be http://forum.newdomain.com or http://newdomain.com/folder

edit: MyBB forum files should be based at newdomain.com/folder

Ok, I get that part but does that mean I am stuck unless I change my folder structure? Newdomain.com is a subfolder, myrootdomain.com is installed in the root.  mybb is installed within the newdomain subfolder.

Thats why myrootdomain is first, its following the folder structure.
if new domain is pointing to correct sub-folder of earlier domain then you need not change folder structure

The forum itself can be accessed by the correct url.  On my host, I have a url pointing to the sub-folder.  The problem is once you start clicking around, the permalinks revert back to rootdomain\sub-folder\forum

Forum is where I installed mybb,  My url is working fine.  But if I click say the forums page or member list it gets all screwed up.  It comes up but viewing a folder structure I instead of the url for the site.

Nm, I figured it out. I have to change the site settings to match the url. It seems like its working.
