Is it possible to get the post message background to be in level with the post author.

 I could do but i believe if there was extra text in the message it would most likely end up with the same result

with the height changed, the first image is what i'm looking for, but second is different posts.

Do you want both (post author and post body) with the same height?

Exactly that! see I've changed the layout, but i'd like the post author and body to be the same height, as you can see in this pic, that's not the case
