Where can I see the live preview?

There is no live preview. That is the current, work in progress, state of the new design. We'll be revealing more of the design over time through the 2.0 dev blog posts we're doing.

It's a default theme. It's meant to be clean and simple -- not something you use without some customization for your own website. Having a simple default theme should make it easier to customize than the 1.x theme.

(It's also far more modern than the 1.x theme)

Yeah, 2.0's default theme is responsive.
