Hi all what im after doing is

i want to put an extra box in between the welcome bar and the main forum called forum sponsor to display a banner advert.

but i want it so it fits in with the rest of the forum

Have you tried any of the announcement message plug ins? I know you can use html on at least one of them, so you should be able to paste your ad code in them, and they will look like the rest of your forum:

You can add it to the header template.
Admin CP --> Templates --> Expand your template set --> header
You can put it after

		<div id="content">

I think that'd work.
