I originally downloaded mybb_1805 and right-clicked on the “Upload” file and extracted all the files to the “forums” folder (that I had created in the root directory on my local server), then uploaded the entire “forums” folder to the remote server.
When I went to “www.myweb.com/forums/install/index.php”, the page indicated “We detected that you have uploaded the files to the ‘Upload’ folder, and indicated that was not recommended.” So I deleted the forums folder on my local and remote servers, then created a new “forums” folder on my local server and dragged each file out of the “Upload” folder directly into the “forums” folder and uploaded it to the remote server.
Then when I went to “/forums/install/index.php”, I did not get a warning message again, so I did the installation and all seemed to go well.
After installation, I went to “www.myweb.com/forums/index.php” and instead of getting the forum, I got the following warning:
[Warning: require_once(Upload/global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/denny/public_html/forums/index.php on line 18]
I fully understand I did not get all the files uploaded, but I can’t figure out how to upload the files without it installing to the ‘Upload’ directory/folder versus the “forums” directory/folder.
In following the directions, I did not upload the Documents folder. I simply uploaded the "Upload" folder.
The attached image is of a screen shot of the downloaded .zip file with the “forums” folder I created in Dreamweaver (highlighted in gray) where I originally uploaded the “Upload” folder to the "forums" folder. But when preparing to install, it appeared that the "Upload" folder is where it wanted to installed, which apparently was not recommended. Yet I followed the directions and that happened.
Can someone please explain to me what I did wrong when uploading the files and explain how to do it properly without it ending up in an “Upload” directory? Thank you.
