I'd say that registering + email verification just to see your forum is going to be a big hoop to jump through for most people. It's a turnoff, simply put.
I like the colours but i would switch off the no preview before joining - it does put me off some forums
maybe make the banner full lenght and put the image links maybe down the bottom or just under the banner if poss
I go forum and think it nice theme
