MyBB Community Forums - Error 2002 - No such file or directory

We're getting this error message:
MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.
SQL Error:2002 - No such file or directory
Query:[READ] Unable to connect to MySQL server

What do I need to do?

Database: MySQL

SQL Error: 2002 - Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'

Query: [READ] Unable to connect to MySQL server

Information: This occurs when your MySQL server is down or experiencing an issue and MyBB cannot connect to it. You will have to contact your host with this error message.

I don't have that last part. The error number is the same, but then it says "No such file or directory." Is it the same problem?

if you havent done any changes recently after which this happened then yes, its a server related problem... please contact your hosts...
