I've had this problem on and off in the last month or so. For some reason, some days I'll have the normal behavior where any new posts I haven't read will have the "New Post" icon, yet on other days, it'll show everything as read, and I will have to use the View Today's Posts link (where it *will* show the new thread icon).

Any idea why it won't show it on the index of the forum, yet it'll have the right status going the alternate way?

I believe forums are marked as read every time you log out.

The weird part is, though, that I haven't been logged out when this has happened, and I don't view the forum in between no new posts and the new posts being made.

This started occurring when I switched from Opera9 to Firefox2, if that helps at all.

I believe they are reset if you relogin. I'm also not sure, but I think they're reset like every 24 hours or something.

If you're inactive for 15 minutes, the indicators for new posts will disappear
