What are the check boxes for on the right side of threads and posts? Can I use them (or something else) to flag posts for further attention?

Related to this, can I control the threads/posts I see so that some remain listed for further attention while others are hidden as having been dealt with?

This all relates to being logged in as an admin user.

Thanks for this. However, I presume that my wish for a facility to mark a thread/post as dealt with or requiring further attention doesn't exist.
