How to update a plugin?

DO you deactivate and deactivate or do you uninstall and reinstall?

that depends on the plugin and the changes made in that version.... for some plugins, just replacing the files would be enough and some would require uninstall and reinstall.. the changelog and the upgrade instructions should tell you what you need to do..
