I want to upgrade 1.6.16 to 1.8.6 and i have many plugins.
so
Before Upgrading,
Should i disable all plugins through board setting ?

or

Should I Only deactivate plugins ?

or 

Should I Deactivate & Uninstall plugins to work on upgraded version?

There is deactivation written on information for upgradtion page.
But i have doubt so i ask.

Sorry it took so long for you to get an answer.

Either of them will ultimately have an equivalent effect. Deactivating just means MyBB won't run the plugin's code when pages are accessed, only keeping the database information. Disabling all plugins is just an override that basically temporarily "deactivates" all plugins.

Both should be just fine, as the upgrade script won't mess with other plugin tables in the database.
