Hi gang
Is there a way to stop myBB 1.8 from automatically merging double posts (ie when the person making the new post is also the person who made the one above it)?

You can turn it off or put a time limit on it.
AdminCP > Configuration > Board Settings > Posting > Post Flood Checking.
