Need someones contact that knows a lot about setting up a VPS on centos OS. Specifically how to add a database.

I doubt you're going to find much at the mybb forums. You may want to consult Google and search for a free control panel if your VPS didn't come with one (which is odd). To manage databases, you could try phpmyadmin.
