Full Version: Tag System for MyBB 1.8

I've been looking for a tag system that is suitable for MyBB 1.8 that does not have security issues or anything complicated.

I simply want one that users can add
@username or @username with spaces (that works with spaces)
In their post and then a PM is sent to the tagged user to notify them that they have been tagged.

When searching google for one the same one pops up every time and it is "MyBB - Mods - Tag System" but when I click the url it takes me to an Error page, I'm assuming either this is not a supported plugin any longer OR it has been deleted..

If anyone knows of a WORKING SIMPLE tag system please let me know!

DVZ Mentions, which integrates with MyAlerts (if MyAlerts 2.0.0 doesn't work you can try the GitHub version: https://github.com/MyBBStuff/MyAlerts).
Would that mean I would need to download MyAlerts as well?

AND thanks! Smile
Okay, I have downloaded both of these plugins, however I'm slightly a noob to installing them and do NOT want to mess anything up for my forum.

Every plugin I have installed so far has an instruction.txt document of some type to help guide me to where I should add which file.

However, neither of these plugins have such a luxury and I was wondering if there was someone out there more knowledgeable of these plugins/have downloaded and used them that wouldn't mind helping me out and telling me where to put what.
I understand that asking you to 'hold my hand' through this is a bit ridiculous but eventually after having my hand held a few times I'll be able to do it all on my own without asking all of you for help.
basically all files go inside the respective folders on your server, as placed in the zip file of that mod.. for instance, in the dvzmention plugin, dvz_mentions.php goes inside public_html/inc/plugins folder on your server..

or you can simply use a FTP client like filezilla and drag and drop the inc folder to your server so that it will mere with existing one and upload the files to correct locations.. let me know if you want a "hold my hand" thing via teamviewer...
I think I kind of understand what you mean as I've done the 'file' dragging before, however there are a few files that are not in a folder and I'm not quite sure where they belong.

If you find files inside the upload folder of a mod which is not placed inside any folder, it's most likely that they are uploaded to the root folder (public_html or www) on your server...
Ah I see, okay, thank you! I'll give it a shot. Smile
