I have begun to outline the MYPS lottery. Any input is appreciated. So far this is the features I have.
1. Max Tickets per user (can be set 1 for single only)
2. Auto Restart (so lottery ends and will begin again immediately)
3. Cost per ticket
4. Prize base
5. Time/Date for lottery to end or manually end
6. Lottery adds ticket price to prize (yes no option-if set to NO then the drawing is based on prize base)
7. Max Tickets to sell (useful to make tickets rare and have members buy them fast)
8. Lottery Title
Any other suggestions? I estimate I can do the mod within the week.
One question about this lottery, does someone win every time?
It'd be cool if it was like a loto type thing where if people don't have the right ticket, the money transfers over to the next lottery and keeps building if no one chooses the right numbers.
Might be a bit too much though for this and different than what you've set up probably.
Hmm...to be honest that's possible but really would you want that? Interesting idea though. Logistically it would require some extra stuff but not too difficult to execute. However...it's not the type of lottery I have in mind. Yes the one I plan will have a winner every time. It's more of a drawing than a lottery I guess.

Personally I think it'd be great to have that. Say make it choose 5 random numbers, users enter their own 5 different numbers and hope to match them ALL with the ones chosen by the mod/plugin, and the numbers change everytime there is a lottery, so it's not always the same.
Money then folds over to the next month (say no one wins it the first month or however long you want it to be going) and so it carries over to the next month and it starts over again until someone wins
I think the "rollover" thing would be a good idea because if you don't have many members, it'll be the same people winning again and again. If you had to choose numbers the prize would become more sought after...
Of course you'd have to think about the odds...maybe having people choose 5 numbers from 1-15 or something.
But do you realize how hard it is to match 5 numbers? Are you saying a number between 1-99,999? With most sites having only a handful of active members or even very active (500 members posting daily) then it would be near impossible for anyone to win and it would become as frustrating as the real lottery.
It's a good idea for a huge forums but with the relatively small sites most people have it's just not practical. What would be cool is a casino like game for MYPS that people could play over and over with a similar feature.
I meant you had the nunmbers 1-15, and each member chose 5 of them (1, 5, 11, 13, 7). If the numbers drawn match, you win. There could be an option in the Admin CP to limit the max number you can choose, which would make a win more or less likely.

That seems to be a good idea to me but with an option in the admin cp to set the maximum ammount of numbers for that draw.
Would you be able to have more then one lottery say like having a daily lottery and a weekly lottery.
I was thinking like this:
9. Admin can specify the range of the numbers.

Every person can draw 4 or 5 numbers (would be nice if admin can choose this).
And for 1 correct number you get XXX (admin can choose), for 2 correct numbers you get XXX (admin can choose), ...
All numbers correct wins XXX, if nobody has everything right, the XXX transfers to next lottery.
Would be cool if you could also add a % of the total money. And would be nice if you can just enter "5000" or "50%" in the same textbox. And ofcourse check if box1+box2+box3<100%
Not sure if you get what I mean, my English is far from perfect, but what I have in my head would be a nice lottery
