Is there a reason when I change something on my theme that it doesn't apply right away? It takes a few minutes later to see the change.

well, what theme are you using? and what exactly are you editing? templates or css?
It's probably a case of your browser's cache... It happens to me all the time. Just clean it and you will see the changes right away.
The default theme. Editing both css and template. I think thats it. I am using Safari
yup, try cleaning up cache like @Starlight said and refresh your page, see if it gets better.
