Hello, today I set a group as moderator of a section, I set all the permissions to:
- Can access ModCP
- Can manage reported content
- Can manage moderator queue

Same thing applies to the moderator permissions on the forums, I set them to:
- Can manage reported posts in this forum
- Can view moderator log entries for this forum

But, whenever someone reports a thread/message the moderators don't get that red message that shows unread reports, how come?

Please, note that Super Moderators and Admin get that alert.

Yes, they are assigned to 2 forums, guess it's more than enough lol

obviously sectional moderators get report notices belonging to their moderated sections only.

... Yes they would only get the reports for the sections they moderate. I like using just Moderator. Moderator to moderate everything and then a head mod if I feel like I need one. (Which I don't) etc.
