Whenever I try and install the DVZ Shoutbox Plugin in the ASC Plugins I get this error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /home/------/public_html/inc/plugins/dvz_shoutbox.php on line 5

and the Line it is talking about is

$plugins->add_hook('global_start', ['dvz_shoutbox', 'global_start']);   // cache shoutbox templates

If U know how to fix please tell meh

DVZ Shoutbox plugin requires PHP version 5.4 or higher. please contact your web host for upgrading php version.

Man that sucks I need to buy Premium on my Web Host to get 5.4
