I notice that plugins such as MyProfile and DVZ Shoutbox work fine on the default theme, yet they do not work at all on custom themes (currently using Focus).

I'm not sure if I'm doing anything stupid or not but help would be appreciated. I checked several plugins in the default theme and they function as usual, whereas they do not work at all in Focus...

It would be because the plugins add custom code to the default theme using search and replace in templates and custom themes usually have custom codes hence the plugin are not able to find the code to search and replace.

Just check the plugin to see what variable and code they add in default theme and add it to any custom theme you need, for example you are using Focus.
