MyBB Community Forums

Hi guys total noob here lol

Is there a landing page or portal when you install MyBB. What i mean is that when i go to my domain once this is installed will it go to a web page with a link to the forum part?

I could do with a page to explain about what my site is about before going to the forum. Is this built in or is there a mod for it or do i have to do it manually?

You can change DirectoryIndex in .htaccess, e.g. DirectoryIndex portal.php

Never mind, I misunderstood your request at first. If you want to do it only once, you'll need a plugin that cookies whether a page has been ever read or not. The closest ones are:
http://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=658
http://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=597
but both affect only registered members.

This is my fault for been too noob.

What i mean is :- once i install MyBB will it go to a portal page first like when i go to https://www.mybb.com/ i have the choice to use links and select community for the forum.

Will this happen automatically or will it just open straight to the forum? I suppose the answer would be to instrall and see then ask questions lol

^ by default MyBB forum system doesn't has a landing page.
you can make required landing page by using suggested plugins / methods
