After 1.8.7 upgrade, move/copy thread retains old views.

I teach classes on a MyBB forum. Each assignment has its own thread. 

When I repeat a course, I copy the previous season's lesson-thread to a private forum, tweak it up, delete replies, etc, then move or copy the updated thread to the new course. 

Previously, the copied or moved thread appeared as a new thread, with no prior views. Now, either copied or moved, it comes with all the views it got in the previous course. 

Not a dealbreaker, but super annoying. 

Intentional change or bug?

If anything, the old behavior was a bug, but I don't recall that ever happening.
