can't say exactly which plugin it is.
however you can try using latest posts on index sidebar plugin or Top Stats plugin

Also for adding the link on right, you can just modify the template related to sidebar and add the image with threadlink with CSS style.

Its latest posts on sidebar plugin just a template customized version. here is its download link http://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=291 to edit its templates just browse global templates section.
