At my forum http://www.charade-g10.net/mybb/ there is only the quick edit available, but NO "edit", no other methods to edit.

For example here a screenshot, and yes for sure I am logged in....

looks like forum was upgraded from version 1.6.x
it would be better to install & use a good looking compatible theme for MyBB 1.8.x

You mean the "default" Template that comes with the forum itself is'nt good?

Before I upgrade to 1.8.7 I had:

1.8.6
1.8.5
1.8.4
1.8.3
1.8.1

are you sure this problem appeared only after upgrading to MyBB 1.8.7 ?

I install the "classic" theme, this works, but it was EXTREMLY slow with it, so I changed to "vienna", works also but much faster.

No, the problems started before 1.8.7. But I am not sure when exactly....
