2.0 is still being worked on. We are a very small team, all of whom have lives to live, jobs to work and school studies to study. None of us are paid, and we do what we do as and when we can. We split our time between development, support and moderating the community. There just aren't enough hours in the day to work solidly on a project as large as 2.0 and have it released when you obviously expect it to be.We will have an Alpha release this year - that's a certainty. We may even reach Beta stage, who knows? We're not going to rush an incomplete product out of the door for any reason.

As said above, if you want MyBB to advance, try contributing where you can - it doesn't have to be in the form of code: answering support questions helps free up the time of other staff members too. Even just reporting issues in the current code (either 1.x or 2.x) can help. Expecting everything to be handed to you for free on a plate is not the best attitude to take.

Chill mate, I guess no one here is expecting that way. I'll try mastering PHP template and advance coding. Would like to contribute something but self-learn coding takes some effort as well. Knowing that alpha is coming out this year is a huge reassurance for the users.
MyBB is free, the team are volunteers, and it's clearly noted that they have other tasks to tend to. Lack of updates/announcements doesn't necessarily mean a lack of progression.
I think you just need to publish news once every few months, nothing big, just "2.0 is still being worked on, it will come when it is ready ©". So that threads like this one wouldn't appear.

Not sure what they are waiting for. If they want new forum software, there are a lot to choose from. MyBB1.8 is very good as it is for now, the only big problem is mobile version, a it is cured with custom templates.

MyBB2 has chance to be good with new techs and extensibility if made right. No need to hurry, slow but steady.
Keep up the good work, I'll be glad to help out test MyBB. Alrighty. 😺
MyBB 2.0 first Alpha release mileston is 76% completed .

Hi,

Your MyBB 2.0 suggestion has unfortunately been rejected. Your suggestion does not fit with the direction that MyBB is heading in as a project at this time.
