I would like a plug in or a configuration that would place a welcome message with first time suggestions that would go into their personal messages on my site . Not a floater but would be inserted in personal messages when they log in for the first time. Can this be done?

I downloaded the plugin by G33K for 1.4 and 1.6   just changed the config and added 1.8 and it works perfectly
