How about adding "quick question" feature in MyBB 2.0? 

You can ask a question in single line, than you are asked to select Category/forum/subforum, type additional information, than klik submit button.. Of course this feature is placed in index page.

I think it will increase members engagement because of it's easiness to ask a question, rather than selecting a forum then klik NEW thread / topic button.

Should be a plugin; not core. As most sites probably won't have a use-case for this. I know I wouldn't.
