Live messenger is the best instant messenger in my opinion. Especially with the Msgplus addon. (msgplus currently doesnt work with the 8.5 beta
)
But live messenger has those annoying blocky ads that make it very unnatractive. I found this program that removes the ads and alot of other buttons and links that you don't want to show. Makes the messenger even more attractive.

try windows live plus/messenger plus. I think it's much better
MsgPlus Live (I think that's what you're talking about) no longer removes advertisements on Messenger. I think that's also the same with the StuffPlug addon.
The new WLM 8.5 Beta 1 allows you to remove advertising if I'm not incorrect.

I couldn't find that setting in the options. I could have overlooked it. It wouldn't make sense though that they'd put ads on there, but then give you the option to remove it. They might, but i dunno.
Either way this program I posted about lets you remove alot of unnecessary things.

That might not be right but theres another beta out again.
