Is it possible to set up a group that can promote other users to a certain group?
I thought this was possible but it seems it requires ACP access.
You're able to do set up a group that allows requests to join. If you go to ACP > Users & Groups > Groups > *edit your group* > scroll down to "Publicly Joinable Options", tick "Yes, users can freely join and leave this group", and then either "Yes, all new join requests need to be moderated first" or "Yes, users must be invited in order to join this group", whichever one you think will work best.
However, the only place I can see to manage join requests is in the ACP, which seems strange. Let me check if I'm missing somewhere else.
Ah yes, found it. After adding your group, on the list view, click Options, and choose Group Leaders. Here you can set who can approve join requests. Then, selected users will be able to approve them in the Group Memberships section of the User CP. Knew it was somewhere!
