Does MyBB have some sort of beta or CVS site where people can check out the next version?

Only developers and staff are able to access the latest development code. The code isn't available for public view.

http://beta.mybboard.net/ you can login with your mybb community account, but then you hit the dead end

It will, if you are a member of any beta, list your current and past previous participation.

Otherwise, you'll just see a few empty pages

You can get an invite if Chris or Tiki (or someone else) selected you to test a new version ...
