Good afternoon,

Firstly, I apologize if I am posting this is the wrong section but spam is one of the issues.

I made a WordPress website through GoDaddy and I had someone "set it up" so I do not know much about the install but I do know that MyBB was installed and is active. I have no idea how to access it, find where the posts or stored or how to get to the MyBB control panel (if that is where I need to modify things).

Second off,  I currently have 22.5K spam posts in the forums that I do not know how to get rid of or limit (probably a CP thing) but no matter how hard I look through WordPress I do not see anything about MyBB anywhere and I am not sure if it is supposed to show up under plugins etc.

The website is http://planetxgaming.com/forum/ and I try to change the "forum" tab to "forums" and I've tried installed another forums plugin just to see if I could get that to work but nothing. (I'm sure this is all because a lack of my knowledge) but if anyone could help me out in any way, I would be very appreciative.

Thank you in advance!

- Zach
Hi Zach,

MyBB will most likely not be connected to WordPress at all, so no plugins should be needed there.

To get to your MyBB Admin Control Panel, go to http://planetxgaming.com/forum/admin/ and enter your administrator account credentials.

Then, go to the Configuration tab, and find the "Purge Spammer" settings section (you can Ctrl-F to find it quickly, if you like). Change the "Post Limit" setting to 10,000 or something big like that.

Save the setting change.

Go to your forum index, and navigate to the forum that the posts are in. When you browse each thread there, you should see a Purge Spammer button at the bottom of each post. Click it and that spammer will be banned and all of the posts and threads that they created will be deleted (so the threads will clear out a LOT faster than you might initially think, since one user has 6700 posts alone).

Then, follow up with some of the recommendations at https://docs.mybb.com/1.8/administration/spam/ to help prevent spammers in the future. Specifically work on the registration questions and enabling the noCAPTCHA reCaptcha.

Good luck!
Thank you! That is everything I needed.
