Ok..

I would like to try MyBB, but really don't know where you leave this post.... or where do I nee to go for a solution?

I am trying to build a "forum", but most of the services I find are not able to do what I need.

If you are in a mindset of a forum, think of a "category" as a "facebook group" in the bones.

I would like visitors to be able to create their own category, or facebook group, and be able to moderate it as far as deleting any new topics within that category or group.

The web engine could search for topics within a group or category... or search for a group or category alone

The search engine could show most popular groups or latest topics for example.

I would NOT want a traditional setup of a forum in which categories are set, and visitors could only add a topic to a category...  I would need something like a facebook group with the look of a forum.

If you don't mind visiting a porn site social media, you can check out fetlife.com and see how they setup their "groups"... that is the setup I would need... it is just a step higher than a traditional forum.

RSS feeds and or email notifications for postings would be awesome as well..

Thank you in advance for your advise..
In that case, you should be looking at something that is like FB more than a forum. Oxwall, Dolphin etc are good.

I also agree, MyBB these things can be done but it is not a better platform for your requirements.
Thanks a lot guys..

Oxwall, Dolphin etc ?? Could you elaborate on the etc part? I have really been looking for a solution on this one.

I keep calling it "forums" because the style of the forums seem to be easier to read than a Facebook group.

The ability of postings from visitors would be exactly like a Facebook page indeed.

However, the forum style gives the options of a visitor to read a multiple topics before entering a conversation.. while the Facebook style groups doesn't give the number of topic options like forums would do.

Thank you much...
I think what you are describing is basically the social groups feature that vbulletin has. I've been working on it for 1.8 and have a Github repository. It is not yet at the alpha release stage because I need to finish a few more features first.

If you don't mind some porn... take at look at fetlife.com and the way they handle their groups.  That is the exact functionality I would like.

They have the ability of a facebook page, but they are basically just forums in which poeople can open categories and call it a group to handle.

Now, I don't know if they have RSS feeds as well, but would awesome to have RSS feed on a new topic for each group (category)
