I mean ... why? Signatures I can understand — there's a lot of potential for users to mess up formatting or take up a ton of space because they don't know what they're doing or they're careless. But an avatar is an image presented in a fixed size. If your users are uploading inappropriate avatars, ban them.

I would support a global "Avatars on", "Avatars off" option, though. All or none. Rather than a per-user basis.

On my forum we developed a 'NSFW' mode which allowed users to enable/disable viewing avatars and signatures which resolved a lot of these issues.

Think you missed the point of my post: I want the option to disable them at an admin level, rather than just "Don't display them"

gif or because of pornographic images can be uploaded. google adsense also warns to us. disable our ads
