I have lost all detail on my site and am unable to get into my admin cp to try and put things right. The whole thing seemed to just crash last night and then came back as a plain screen with the threads
just dotted about
I also keep getting a HTTP 404 message when trying to get anywhere on the site.

Please post detailed information. We can't guess what the problem is.
Also, a link to your forum would be very helpful.
1) Please don't put things in big lettering. This is considered shouting in net etiquette which is rude and won't get you helped faster.
2) Can I please have the URL of your forum to diagnose the problem?
I apologise for the big lettering but it was put on as an (obviously) poor attempt at humour.
I cannot post any more detailed info as I dont really know what happened. Last night the site just appeared to crash, a message that had been put on the site disappeared and then 403 and 404 messages just appeared everytime I tried to do anything.
Unfortunately I do not know a great amount about this type of thing as this site was sort of thrust upon me and I am floundering badly.

I see what the problem is.
Login onto the admin cp (
http://northeastvoice.co.uk/forums/admin) and look for board settings > change. And look for general configuration there.
Make sure that the site URL and such are specified correctly. Also make sure that your cookie settings are correct.

Edit: I didn't get any errors.
Don't use forums.northeastvoice.co.uk as site URL but use
http://northeastvoice.co.uk/forums/ instead.
The cookie settings should be:
.northeastvoice.co.uk
and
/forums/
