One of my forums is running an old version of MyBB. When I setup the forum I made some custom adjustments to the core (directly) so it was a pain to update it... I update it many times but I stopped doing it.
Now, I want to start from scratch. I've already made custom plugins for 1.8.7 instead of changing the core files.
But I need an advice on how to procced now.
I've read this but I only found a pharagraph that doesn't explain too much about upgrading from an oooooooooold version.
"If your current version is more than one point below the newest version, you need to make a full upgrade. For example, if you’re using 1.6.1 and the newest version is 1.6.4, then you need a full upgrade. The same applies if you’re using 1.6.x and you’re upgrading to 1.8.x. You need to use the latest version of the software."
What is the best option to upgrade to the lastest version without loosing data? My current version is 1.6.11.
The forum is currently running Google SEO (1.6.6) and I want to keep friendly URL's as they are now (is it possible?).
We are talking about a small forums of ~2,000 users | ~10,000 threads | ~130,000 posts.
