I concur, auto-installers are full of issues. I have a host who uses a program (3rd party) to install MyBB, but there are errors left and right. I decided to remove the auto-installed version and all of my errors practically vanished!!
It is always best to install things on your own so you know what is where and what you added exactly to your forum.
