I CHMOD the upload and avatars folders to 666 and when I click on the folder I get this error: Unable to open directory: /forum/uploads . I try going to my forum install and this is all I get.

mysite

I don't know what else to do.
According to that there isn't even a /forum directory, let alone any of it's subdirectories.

Are you sure you uploaded it to where you think you uploaded it to?
I don't know! I really have no clue what I'm doing!
I assume you did this with ftp. In your ftp client, at the location / what do you see?

If you see a folder called public_html, httpdocs or something similar, the forum directory needs to be inside that.
Are you sure you uploaded MyBB to the right place? Usually you have to put MyBB inside the public_html or htdocs folder

Also, the uploads/ and uploads/avatars/ folders should be CHMODed to 777 not 666
I don't know. I just used the filemanager and uploaded the files in the Directory
Do you know what control panel your host is using, or can you provide a link to your host?

Also, when you open filemanager, what directories do you see at first?

This is what I see. I just added the forum here. Should I move it?

Directory: /

bin
dev
etc
forum
ftp

home
include
lib
opt
proc

sbin
tmp
usr
var
www
Move it to the www folder, so inside the www folder you have a folder called forum with all the MyBB files in it.
alright
