Custom theme maybe? Contact your theme creator - the simplest way how to solve this. Need more info
We have been through this, same issue happens on someone else with default theme.
Is it possible to solve this bug with simply removing stuff that effects threads sticky/unsticked status from newreply and altogether removing those options from admins etc. too ?
I can look into it on your board if you send me a temp FTP and admin account to your board privately.
If you tell me which files/codes might be causing this I can send you so you can check.
The thing is - I don't know. It's a blind game between me and the bug itself. I need direct access to your board in order to debug the issue.

Hello, no I haven't solved it. The last I heard was this post:

I wouldn't know where to start trying to fix it myself, so I will just have to put up with it till there is a fix. I don't know if it has been fixed in 1.8.9 I haven't upgraded yet as I like to wait till any snags have been sorted out.
It's not fixed at 1.8.9
