Can anyone make me or find me a mod that will allow a user to choose a football team and then, when posting, the logo appears under the user's screenname or in his sig or something?

In Gold, your members will be able to join a group upon registraion. So you can name groups after team names and assign each group a diferent logo. And to save you another question, Gold is expected this month, not sure though
