Can somebody please help me to rescale the menu on the left hand side? I don't know what i've done here.

Wow, all the scaling is out on alerts and the UCP, MODCP.
Your .thead class has a min-wdith of 990px, this is making every table on the forum this wide. Not sure why you need a min width on .thead globally.
Remove in theme global.css from class "thead":
min-width: 990px;
This destoys your layout.
