So the backstory is I backed up all my files and database but deleted my host account.(no support linux)

Later, I bought new hosting (hawkhost)

When I try to upload files to my home directory on my new account they seem to get corrupted easily.(ie phpmyadmin wrong token error)

WOULD THIS WORK?

If I go to softaculous and install a new mybb, and then restore JUST THE DATABASE would that be a much easier way to restore my forum?

I know NOTHING about programming and the cpanel looks mostly greek to me lol

You could still use the old files, you'd just need to manually change your config.php file to point to where you import your database.
